Jump Kit Radio
These next photos show a Yaesu FT-100 rig and Astron Power Supply. The rig is housed in a sportsman drybox for portabablity. This radio provides HF, VHF and UHF communications for emergency situations. It can easily be powered using the battery backup shown in case of a power outage. |

Battery power can be quickly connected to the radio using Anderson Power Pole connectors and the RigRunner distribution visible in this photo. |

Inside Antenna
A 5/8 wave VHF whip antenna is mounted inside the garage for use at times when lightening damage from outside antennas is a possibility. The antenna is a Larsen NMO magnetic mount. The base of the antenna is about 4 feet off of the garage floor. |

Antenna Base
A metal shelf plate is used to provide a small ground plane and mounting position for the inside whip antenna. |

Battery Power
This battery case with an LED battery charge indicator built into the top of the case lid is used to store a backup battery. The case is a Sea Sense Power Station Deluxe Battery Box. I purchased the case from Bass Pro on-line. The cost is approximately $40.00 |

Yuasa Sealed Battery
To provide backup power as well as power during severe thuunder storms I use a Yuasa sealed battery. I chose a 17.2Ah battery for this application. |

Voltage Distribution
A Rig Runner with Anderson Power Pole connectors provides an easy way to switch between the station 12 volt power supply and the emergency battery as a power source. |
